Chilean Flamingo
Phoenicopterus chilensis
Chilean Flamingos are large-bodied birds with long legs, long necks and small heads. They are born with grayish-brown down feathers for insulation. The feathers gradually turn pink with maturation in about 10 weeks.
Fun Facts: Chilean Flamingos are pink as a result of a diet high in beta carotene.
